Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, better known as Ari Lennox, is an American singer and musician born in Washington, D.C., who was the first female to be signed to J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. On the 21st of October, 2016 she dropped Pho, her first EP on the Dreamville Records label. This was when she first gained the attention of her peers. Shea Butter Baby her debut studio release was May 7th 2019. Ari Lennox started uploading her music on the internet in 2012 when she released her debut mixtape Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography in 2013. In 2014, Ari Lennox dropped her single Bound and her self-released mixtape Five Finger Discount. The song Sweat it included on Omen's Elephant Eyes album on July 21 2015. J. Cole asked her to collaborate with him for Rihanna's remark. Later in the season, the music circulated around Dreamville. The news was released on December 8 that she had signed with Dreamville Records. Backseat is one of the songs she recorded with Cozz to record the collaboration album Revenge of the Dreamers II. On October 21 2016 the artist released her debut album entitled Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's track Change and was an opening act for the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. In 2018, she performed in two tracks, including the EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song as well as Bas's Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single from Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on the 16th of July in 2018. A music video was then released in September. She released her second single Grampa on November 9. Two more singles were released by her on November 13 Pedigree and No One. Shea Butter Baby. Shea Butter Baby then made an appearance as a guest on Creed II album soundtrack alongside Cole. She released this single as a way to promote her debut titled Creed II on 26 February 2019. The song was followed by the music video which debuted that was released on February 20, 2019 that surpassed three million views via YouTube within one week. As a support act she performed with 6LACK during December 2018 on The From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
